Riot and JioBLAST Put VALORANT on Campus: 10 Colleges, Five Cafe Cities, One LAN Final

India’s collegiate PC scene has a new front door. Riot Games and JioBLAST announced the VALORANT Campus Cup in a release dated 11 August 2026, and the shape of it is unusually specific for a first announcement: activations across 10 colleges pan-India and gaming cafe competitions across five cities, then national online qualifiers, then a one-day National LAN Final.

The women’s side gets its own lane rather than a token slot. Per the announcement, there are separate online qualifiers for a dedicated women’s competition, with the LAN final featuring the leading men’s and women’s teams. The release calls that a first for the initiative in India.

The numbers on the table

Per Outlook Respawn, which covered the launch on 22 August, the prize pool is INR 5 lakh and entrants must be 16 or older with a valid college ID, with every member of a team from the same institution. That figure is not in the Riot/JioBLAST release, so treat it as Outlook’s reporting rather than the organisers’ own line until they publish it.

Five lakh is small money. It is small next to the pools India’s bigger mobile circuits hand out, and anyone reading this as a payday will be disappointed. The value is elsewhere: 5v5 reps in a structured bracket, a campus badge to play for, and a stage at the end of it. India’s collegiate tier has always been the place where PC talent either gets seen or quietly drifts into ranked and stops. A pathway with a broadcast at the end of it changes that arithmetic, even at five lakh.

What is not announced yet

Nearly everything operational. The release says participating colleges, cities, registration and tournament dates are still to come. Outlook notes the official 21 August teaser showed several cities — Jaipur, Mumbai, Pune, Kochi, Hyderabad and Bengaluru among them — but the host list is not confirmed, and no qualifier or LAN dates have been published as of this writing. Anyone circulating a schedule right now is guessing.

JioBLAST is the Jio-side joint venture with BLAST, per the release, and this is a Riot title entering a market where the same organiser is already stacking events. That matters more than the cheque does. India just cleared a 15-player Asian Games contingent across four titles, and Outlook frames the Campus Cup as expanding collegiate VALORANT competition across the country. That expansion is real only if the dates actually land.
